Miles Gibson is behind Milestone Software, an application development and IT management company. He’s been working on his own since 1990.

“If I close business at the same rate, I will double my income this year!”

What got you into freelancing?

I have been self-employed for many years. And for many years it was great – lots of business, good revenue, a great life.

What’s been most challenging recently?

I have been lazy in my marketing; relying too long on existing business, which suddenly dried up.

Did you ever want to quit or give up?

Yes, a few months ago I actually started looking for a job. It seemed easier. Fortunately, I didn’t get any offers, lol.

This is not the first time this has happened to me, but probably the longest “dry spell” that I have had. Now that I am focusing on marketing, things seem easier, and I’ve started to see things turnaround.

What were you struggling the most with when you ran into Double Your Freelancing Rate?

I was struggling with exactly how to market myself and how to treat customers properly in order to get that first business.

Generally, I am pretty good at getting repeat business. Although, I have been burned a few times for money in the past few months.

What are some big successes you’ve had recently?

A recent win with a new client resulted in increased revenues because I priced my services based upon my worth – not an hourly rate. In this case, nearly double what I would have charged prior to taking Double Your Freelancing Rate.

The course has had a big impact on my business and income. If I close business at the same rate, I will double my income this year!

What are some specific tactics that helped you grow?

Thinking about what I am worth has really helped. And I’ve learned to formalize the first steps, through a statement of work, etc.

Brennan’s work has made a difference in how I run my business. I plan on re-reading the material and continuing to implement his ideas.

What are you most excited about for your business in 2015?

I’m just excited about the possibilities when it comes to moving forward for 2015-2016 fiscal year. I have a renewed hope and purpose.

I just need to do it. Just do it. Get out there and do it.
