Where imposter syndrome comes from
For me, I've noticed that imposter syndrome comes as a result of pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
It comes in the period immediately following a radical mindset shift or new trajectory.
It's the "rubber meeting the road" when I go out and start trying to make my new dreams a reality and need to expand my belief systems in order to be successful with it.
Maybe you're familiar with Joseph Campbell and his concept of "The hero's journey."
(If you're not, you've surely experienced it first hand in, like, every movie you've ever watched.)
The way I see it, imposter syndrome is essentially the second, "Initiation", phase of the classic hero's journey.
Initiation. In the initiation section, the hero enters the “new world,” where they must begin facing a series of trials until they reach the climax of the story: the main obstacle or enemy.
