  • What is it?Clay.com is a "waterfall enrichment" tool, where you can get easily get aggregated enrichment data from a bunch of different tools. It's convenient and easy, but extremely expensive per lead. (Often >$1 CPL, depending on your ICP filtering strategy.)

    • Fast to use
    • Good for if you're feeling overwhelmed at making a list strategy and just want one platform that "does everything for you"
    • Good for if you just want to build a decent list ASAP
  • Cons
    • Enrichment here can be extremely expensive per lead. (Often >$1 Cost Per Lead (CPL), depending on your Ideal Client Profile (ICP) filtering strategy.)
    • Over-dependence on Clay to "do everything for you" will cripple your ability to create list strategies on your own and may limit your long-term outreach success.
    • NB: If you have more money than time and a high Client Lifetime Value (LTV), Clay could still be fine. $1 CPL with Thomas' benchmark metrics means probably a $200-300 Client Acquisition Cost (CAC), which is still not a lot of $, even if it's much more expensive than other options.
