Roadmapping is Paid Discovery
Roadmapping is essentially taking the discovery work you do now and turning it into a product
- When you create a proposal for a client, you do research on the company, the problem, and the solution
- But because it’s unpaid, you’re likely to rush through it and do a bad job
- Roadmapping takes this discovery work into a paid setting
- It lets you do the pre-implementation work right because you’re getting paid for it
It’s a high-value engagement that seeks to:
- Understand the client’s business and underlying business goals
- Diagnoses the problem with the current state of the business
- Designs a solution that solves the problem in a way that furthers the underlying business goals
- Creates an implementation roadmap for the solution
